The Holmes County Commissioners have passed a resolution to increase dog and kennel registration fees for the upcoming licensing season for 2026. This resolution comes at the request of Dog Warden Beam in an effort to help the Dog Warden’s Department to balance the budget and help with rising costs.
All dog license revenue is placed in the counties Dog & Kennel Fund. This fund is used specifically for operating and funding the Holmes County Dog Warden’s Department and its vital services to the community. Occasionally adjustments need to be made to the counties dog licenses fees to ensure the shelter and dog warden’s services can maintain its funding amidst rising costs of operations and unpredictable fluctuation of dog licensing sales. It is critical that the shelter can maintain funding so that it can continue offering exceptional services to the citizens and dogs of Holmes County, while working hard to keep its shelter and services meeting industry standards for the health and safety of its community.
