LONGEST RESIDENT

MEET PERRY

The Evolution of Perry the Platypup: From Pup to Potato 🟢

There’s something magical about a dog who can make an entire shelter laugh, cry, and fall in love—sometimes all in the same day. That’s Perry. Or as we now lovingly call him: Perry the Platypup, the slightly rotund, highly adored ruler of the play yard.

Perry waddled into our lives on December 3rd, 2024, weighing in at a sturdy and handsome 48 pounds. And after 205 days (or about 36,900 tail wags) of belly rubs, zoomies, and winning over every human he meets, he’s now clocking in around 60 pounds. That’s not “extra” weight—it’s 12 pounds of love, trust, and maybe a few too many cheddar biscuits from his fan club.

Let’s be clear: Perry didn’t need to be “fixed up.” He came in fabulous. But over time, he’s become something even better—soft around the edges, wise in the ways of the treat jar, and perfectly squishable.

As our longest resident, Perry has seen it all. He’s watched dogs come and go, always with a wag and a smile. In the meantime, he’s been:

– Learning to sit like a scholar (especially when snacks are on the syllabus)

– Running wild and free in the play yard, ears flopping like satellite dishes

– Earning the unofficial title of “Most Huggable Potato with Legs”

Perry is ready to trade his kennel for a couch. Ready for a forever human who laughs when he runs like a bowling ball and still calls him handsome when he snores like a tractor.

Perry is love, Perry is life, and Perry is ready to go home. 💚
